Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra and Other Yoga Practices

Yoga Nidra is a type of yoga meditation that has the practitioner lying on their back at a slight angle with the head slightly elevated above their feet. The goal of the practice is to relax the mind, body, and spirit while becoming hyper-aware of sights, sounds, colors, and feelings around you and in you. Here are three things that can help you get the most out of your Nidra Yoga sessions:

1. Bring to mind the one desire you hold dearest to you-whether that is health, romance, wealth, esteem, or anything else. Whatever you desire most focus on that.

2. Think about your intentions and what you want to achieve in the day’s session. Is it to focus on your feelings, tackle a problem, or deal with emotions you are facing- whatever it is focus on that and begin to face it head on.

3. Find the happy place where you can go to relax and escape the pressure and pain of the world- think about a place, a person, or a memory that helps you feel at peace and helps you relax. This thought will help ground you in the state of mind needed for a good session.
